You’re going to need a plan to get around the Seattle area this weekend. Two major construction projects and a movie will likely cost you more than a few minutes.

is back in effect this weekend. Only two lanes of northbound I-5 will be open to drivers approaching Marysville.

The Washington Department of Transportation is still replacing expansion joints across the freeway in the Marysville area. Washington State Department of Transportation spokesperson Lisa Van Cise said these weekend restrictions can jam the entire north end.

“We’re anticipating some backups on the city streets of both Everett and Marysville, along with a drive that resembles the afternoon commute on northbound I-5 all day Saturday and Sunday, ” Van Cise said.

I-90 drivers are going to get caught in another inside the Mount Baker and Mercer Island tunnels. All westbound drivers are going to be funneled into the express lanes. That’s going to impact people heading to the Sounders match and other Seattle events. Contractors are working on the life-safety and ventilation systems inside the tunnels as Sound Transit prepares to run light rail tracks across the I-90 Bridge.

And Alaskan Way Viaduct drivers need to be prepared for rolling slowdowns as producers continue filming scenes for “Fifty Shades Darker.” Production is expected to cause congestion through next week.
