65-year-old killed in fatal crash near I-5 in Lynnwood

A fatal crash caused the two left lanes on southbound SR 525 to be blocked off at milepost 1, close to the I-5 and I-405 interchanges in Lynnwood, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
The lanes have since reopened, as of 7:30 a.m. A 65-year-old man was not wearing a seatbelt, according to Washington State Patrol. Troopers confirmed that the man is dead.
“The Washington State Patrol says a 65-year-old East Wenatchee man died in the crash,” ³ÉÈËXÕ¾ traffic reporter Chris Sullivan said. “Troopers say he hit the guardrail on the right side of the road before crossing all lanes and hitting the barrier on the left side of the highway. He was not wearing a seatbelt.”
CLEARED: The collision on SB SR 525 near the I-5 & I-405 interchanges has cleared. The backups remain about the same. Please continue to expect delays as traffic clears.

Despite the lanes clearing up, drivers and commuters traveling through this stretch should anticipate delays and are urged to drive carefully.
