Expect long delays at ferry lines this Labor Day weekend in Washington.

Washington State Ferries say a projected 125,000 more passengers took a ferry this summer compared to last year, and 317,000 more than in summer 2014. Let鈥檚 face it, everybody loves an Instagram boat pic.

Seattle’s Colman dock is expected to get much busier

This Labor Day weekend, an estimated 90,000 travelers per day will be hopping on a ferry for one last summer adventure.

鈥淲e see a lot of people head out of town early on Thursday before Labor Day, we still have a few early and late reservations for Port Townsend and the San Juan Islands,” said Nicola Kanchi with Washington State Ferries. “We encourage people to travel on non-peak hours during big holiday weekends.鈥

Therefore, Kanchi is stressing that drivers need to plan ahead.

If you are riding 鈥渟tand-by鈥 on a ferry, get to your boat line very early.
