(King County Metro)

As Seattle continues to grow, so does the need for transportation options 24/7. While some are quick to call an Uber / Lyft after a Seahawks game, working late, or just after a night on the town, Metro is looking to expand late night bus routes.

Currently, Metro has about 40 late-night routes between midnight and 5 a.m. But a new proposal would add more routes, improve connections to destinations such as the airport, and add trips that would provide all-night service on many Metro routes.

If approved by the King County Council, the proposal would boost total overnight service by roughly 50 percent.

The Metro overnight (Night Owl) proposal would:

  • Replace current Night Owl routes 82, 83, and 84 with two late-night round trips – around 2-3 a.m. — to each of the following routes: 3, 5, 11, 70, 62 and 120.
  • Provide night transit service between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport after Link stops operating at night.

The public is encouraged to review the proposal and offer comments via an  until Oct. 30. See a detailed map of the proposal .
