Wet pavement contributes to nearly 1.2 million traffic crashes each year, according to AAA. When it rains, dirt and oil rise to the top of the pavement and that’s why we get such slick roads.
According to the experts, here are the top three things you should avoid doing when you are driving in the rain:
Slam on the brakes if you start to skid:
If you start to feel your car skid, steer in the direction you want to go and avoid slamming on the brakes. Hitting the brakes will upset the balance of the car and make it harder to control. This is easier said than done, but check out to see how to do it.
Drive fast:
Slowing down in wet weather will reduce the chance of hydroplaning.

Use Cruise Control:
To prevent loss of traction, you have to slow down by lifting your foot off the gas (remember, no slamming on your brakes) and you can’t do that if cruise control is engaged.
