Amtrak is experimenting with a new pet policy that could soon hit the rails in Seattle.

Your next train ride out of Seattle might get a little slobbery. In a new pilot program, Amtrak trains in the Northeast have started allowing pets on trains.

It’s been a week since the furry passengers have started commuting with their humans and so far, no complaints according to Amtrak’s Renee Graham.

“As far as I know, we haven’t had any complaints but if passengers have an allergy, they can request to be moved to a different seat,” Graham said.

Currently, pet tickets are running $25 and don’t worry, you won’t be sitting next to a huge Great Dane. All dogs or cats need to be 25lbs or less and in a carrier placed at your feet.

This sounds great for our East Coast friends but what about Seattle? Amtrak says, “Yes. We hope to offer this program in Seattle soon.”
