The Seattle Police Department (SPD) is investigating a fatal car accident in downtown Seattle that occurred Monday morning and is rerouting traffic.
The crash happened on Fourth Ave. S. and S. Spokane Street. An 83-year-old woman was walking west in the crosswalk when an SUV made a right turn onto Spokane Street from Fourth Avenue and ran her over. The driver kept going and left the scene. When police arrived at the scene of the crash, they found her body in the road.
Seattle police are investigating a fatality collision at 4th Avenue South and South Spokane Street. Find alternate routes. More information to follow.

Police have not found the driver, as of this reporting. SPD detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are at the scene collecting evidence.
Morning commuters should look for alternate routes.
“We are definitely seeing the impact of this crash in SODO at Fourth Ave. in Spokane,” Chris Sullivan, traffic reporter for ³ÉÈËXÕ¾ Newsradio, said. “This is a fatal crash investigation that’s only about 15 minutes old, but it’s right there at 4th Ave., right as it goes underneath the Spokane Street viaduct. This has basically backed up Fourth (Street) all the way back to Dawson, almost back to the Georgetown Brewery. Airport Way is going to be your best option because First Ave. was already jammed up as it is, and East Marginal Way always is. Sixth Ave. is pretty heavy as well, but it’s better than Fourth, definitely. Airport Way is the way to go to get around this.”
This is a developing story, check back for updates
