Reporter David Fahrenthold at the Washington Post joined Seattle’s Morning News to share an update on the continued investigations into former President Donald Trump and his business.

“One thing we were really interested in was Trump Tower — the icon of Trump, the heart of his business, the place where he announced his campaign in 2016,” Fahrenthold said. “It’s not doing very well. It’s Trump’s home, it’s the headquarters of his business, but it also has 11 floors of office space that are pretty important for him.”

“He has a huge loan that’s collateralized with those office space floors. It’s due next year,” Fahrenthold added. “He needs to fill them, he needs money from them. And we looked at the tenants there and found that a couple of them, some major tenants, had basically fallen behind on rent and moved out.”

Trump does have one steady customer at Trump Tower: his own political operation.

“His PAC rents an office on the 15th floor there,” Fahrenthold said. “… So basically they use political donors’ money and turn it into private revenue for Trump’s business for an office that the PAC barely uses.”
