David Fahrenthold, reporter with The Washington Post, joined Dave Ross on Seattle’s Morning News on Tuesday, to discuss his .

The story focuses on when President Trump’s kids go to Trump hotel properties, Fahrenthold explained, forcing the Secret Service to follow them because they have to follow them everywhere, and then they charge the Secret Service to be there, “so they create a need for hotels that only their company can fill.”

“They’ve got at least $238,000 of taxpayer money transferred to the Trump organization just by going to these properties and making the Secret Service come along.”

Fahrenthold: Trump’s doctor could have provided updates without lying

Dave asked if Fahrenthold feels that this is enough — it’s over a million dollars, apparently, just from the accommodations at his hotels when his kids visit these various places — to influence the president in some way?

“There are ways in which people may try to use the president’s business to influence him,” Fahrenthold said. “But this is different. This is the president and his family using, basically, the presidency to enrich themselves. So there’s no influence buying here. It’s their influence over the government that brings money to their own property.”
