The alleged wheel-grab was the most dramatic part of Cassidy Hutchinson鈥檚 testimony during yesterday鈥檚 snap session of the January 6th Committee. She said she was told that Trump was so determined to join the mob at the Capitol on January 6th, that he tried to grab the wheel of his SUV 鈥� saying 鈥淚鈥檓 the effing president!鈥�

And when the head of his security detail said no, we are going back to the White House 鈥� the president then grabbed at him too.

I was a little surprised at that because I doubt that even a seasoned grabber like Trump could get a hand on a trained Secret Service agent.

And sure enough, within an hour, the agent who was actually in the SUV was quoted as saying, no, it didn鈥檛 happen that way at all, and that he is now ready to testify to that under oath.

And when I heard that, I thought 鈥� Bingo! I鈥檝e seen this plot on Matlock! I predict this agent will testify under oath, and the committee will ask him about a lot more than the SUV ride.

But of course, the committee is after a much bigger fish.

Because so far, no one has contradicted the rest of her testimony, which is that her boss, Mark Meadows, couldn鈥檛 bring himself to confront the president, even though they both knew the mob was armed and dangerous.

Meadows came across looking like the kind of guy that Trump himself would call a 鈥渨imp.鈥�

And I think that was the main purpose of yesterday鈥檚 appearance by Cassidy Hutchinson.

Hutchinson was a true believer. She interned for Ted Cruz and Steve Scalise. These are not Libs. She truly believed Trump was good for the country.

And her most damaging testimony wasn鈥檛 about the limousine ride, or the president throwing his lunch against the dining room wall. It was about seeing the men she once admired betray their country:

“As an American, I was disgusted. It was unpatriotic. It was unAmerican. We are watching the Capitol Building get defaced over a lie,” Hutchinson said.

And she finally realized that the reason her boss was willing to sacrifice the Constitution 鈥� was to save himself:

“Did White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows ever indicate that he was interested in receiving a presidential pardon related to January 6th?” Liz Cheney asked.

“Mr. Meadows did seek that pardon, yes ma’am,” Hutchinson replied.

Now, you can argue that if Cassidy Hutchinson got the steering wheel grab wrong, maybe she got the rest wrong too.

But there鈥檚 a fix for that. Like the Secret Service agent, Mark Meadows can just tell the truth. Under oath.
