This year鈥檚 Pok茅mon GO fest, bringing event experiences to two parts of Seattle for game players alike.

The game, which centers around chasing after creatures in the real world, enables users to explore the world around them, Michael Steranka, Pok茅mon Go game director, told Dave Ross and Colleen O鈥橞rien on Seattle鈥檚 Morning News.

It鈥檚 the first time since the pandemic started that a major live Pok茅mon GO event has kicked off.

There鈥檒l be more than 80 Pokemon that have never been released that can be captured in a single day, while art installations 鈥� or 鈥渉abitats鈥� as named in the game 鈥� are staged throughout Seattle Center for players to explore and discover different Pokemon, Steranka said.

Through augmented reality, those that are interested can also stop by to see the electric garden, while also creating photo opportunities of captured creatures in different locations they normally wouldn鈥檛, he said.

The game director noted that Pok茅mon GO鈥檚 game base is made up of children, parents and people from different backgrounds in life.

鈥淚t鈥檚 really because this is the only game out there that brings people together in the real world and creates a real-world community, unlike you know, what you see in other games that you might play on your computer or your gaming console,鈥� he said.

鈥淭here鈥檚 no winning or losing at this event, so everybody goes on their own personal journey.鈥�

The event runs from July 22-24, with morning sessions from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Seattle Center and a city event experience from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in downtown.
