We’re told the children are being reunited with their families. But have all of them been reunited?
Congressmember Pramila Jayapal (D-Seattle) decided to take a national tour of the facilities to see for herself. As she was returning from the SeaTac facility, she told us there are still hundreds of children across the country who remain separated from their families.
Rep. Jayapal is calling for an end to the practice of separating immigrant families, calling it a “serious set of human rights violations.”
“They are victims of state-sponsored violence and I am not using those terms lightly in any way shape or form,” she said. “I have the American Association of Pediatrics, I have , I have … who know that what we’ve done is morally wrong. It’s not about politics. It’s about right and wrong.”
Jayapal wants every family seeking asylum to be “paroled-in” or given “victim visas.”
