I know a lot of you are way ahead of me in going to public events – but I finally did it – I was part of a live in-person INDOOR audience Sunday: the ’s first live show since everything shut down.

It was also my first drive to Seattle Center in about a year and a half. And that drive sure is uglier than I remember it. There’s the garbage dump under the Convention Center; the graffiti gauntlet in the Mercer street tunnels – which feels like driving through a rebellion.

But once we got to McCaw Hall, and showed our vaccination cards, it felt completely normal. The ushers were very happy to see us. The executive director of the ballet came out to thank us again and again for our support – and the performance was great. In one piece, the dancers appeared through a wall of mist and danced on a giant slip ‘n slide, splashing water as they moved.

And of course at the end – sooo much applause. We clapped for the dancers, the dancers clapped for us, there were flowers all around. It felt pretty good. I even got a little emotional.

Then I get home just in time to see the Seahawks tank, which was a downer. But then I saw the Mariners snap back to beat the Angels after losing 14-1 to them the day before.

And then on top of all that, on Saturday we were at the beach with granddaughter number two when she finally took her first steps – and I got it on video. And I also learned that granddaughter number one, back east in Connecticut, got a blue ribbon in the Bigelow Tea Kids Fun Run, where the kids run across a soccer field in any direction they want to.

There was so much happening! There were highs, there were lows, it was almost possible to entertain the thought that things are getting back to normal!

And you know what I learned? Just how EXHAUSTING a normal weekend can be!

Thank goodness it’s Monday and I can finally relax.

Ross: Voters weren’t just voting for change, they were voting for a hormone

The more I read the post-election analysis, the more I’m convinced voters weren’t just voting for a change – they were voting for a hormone.
