Imagine hearing this on the evening news:
“We are learning tonight members of the Oath Keeper militia group had trained in urban warfare and had a plot to use boats to bring heavy weapons across the Potomac and attack the Capitol.”
The Oath Keepers is a pro-Second Amendment group that bills itself as a non-partisan association of current and former soldiers 鈥 pledged to (QUOTE) “defend the Constitution.”
But apparently, they get to define that however they want.
The discovered the Potomac plot in the course of its Jan. 6 investigation 鈥 and also found evidence that they were waiting for orders from Donald Trump.
The Potomac order never came. But they certainly saw the President鈥檚 Mike Pence tweet 鈥 and were determined to find him and gently persuade him to 鈥渄efend the Constitution鈥 鈥 by keeping Trump in office 鈥 which appears in the Constitution precisely nowhere.
So, thinking this through 鈥 do you see America as a place where a president is free to use social media to organize his own militia and have it surround the Capitol in the name of 鈥渄efending the Constitution?”
Suppose a future Speaker of the House responded by ALSO using social media to organize HER own militia, and ALSO defended the Constitution, by surrounding the White House?
Sounds like Second Amendment heaven 鈥 an American Spring.
And every prediction I鈥檝e seen says that the United States Senate 鈥 is about to give it the green light.
