Yesterday on Gee & Ursula鈥檚 鈥�Scenarios鈥� segment they took on a listener鈥檚 wedding dilemma.

The listener is going to his brother鈥檚 wedding, and he鈥檚 bringing his girlfriend, who likes to do karaoke. Well, his brother needs a wedding singer, and the girlfriend convinced him 鈥� to let her do it.

But the listener 鈥� while he loves his girlfriend 鈥� knows that she cannot sing and will humiliate herself the moment she opens her mouth, and then his brother will be angry that he wasn鈥檛 warned.

So, what should he do?

Ursula 鈥� who is always for transparency, said yes, he has to say something.

Gee 鈥� who understands that sometimes a guy just needs to keep his mouth shut, said keep it quiet.

Well, here鈥檚 what I would do.

First, tell the groom to drop the idea of a wedding singer. Say that it鈥檚 too clich茅d.

Instead, you have a DJ or a piano player 鈥� and just arrange to have a mic available.

So now, the listener can tell the girlfriend 鈥� ‘hey, change of plans, it鈥檒l be a casual thing, there鈥檒l be a mic, and if you do a song 鈥� I鈥檓 sure people will love it.’

You see, it鈥檚 all about expectations.

When a professional singer takes the mic 鈥� high expectations. In the mind of the audience, you鈥檙e competing with Beyonce.

But if it鈥檚 one of the guests who get up to the stage after too much cake 鈥� very different expectations. You don鈥檛 have to be Beyonce or Gaga, all you have to do is remember the words.

I know this because I鈥檝e pulled this off myself.

At my daughter鈥檚 wedding, came on and I鈥檇 had too much cake, and I decided to sing along and do an unrehearsed dance routine.

Not only that, I went over to my wife, who has given me strict orders never to make her dance in public, and I pulled her to the center of the floor at the Sorrento Hotel and made her dance in public.

And I think everyone will agree we were the hit of the wedding. Many of the guests were too intimidated by my dance moves to say so, but you could tell they were in awe.

So that鈥檚 what you do. Make the singing look spontaneous, and whether or not people like it, at least they鈥檒l be forgiving. Just make sure they鈥檝e had lots of cake.
