The most discouraging story of the past week was that found politics has become a deal-breaker on dating sites.
Prospective dates are being asked up front, 鈥渨ho are you voting for?鈥
Political affiliation is now stronger than even sexual attraction. This is bad. How can we become a cohesive nation if we sleep exclusively with our political clones?
How can we reach consensus on racism, guns, masks, and vegan meat substitutes unless we鈥檙e occasionally forced to discuss those things with the people we love 鈥 when we鈥檙e motivated to be reasonable, to really listen, and ultimately, earn the makeup sex.
But I did see one ray of hope. On 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley .
“Randy and Cyndra Cole are Republicans raising four children outside Cleveland,” Pelley explained.
“I鈥檓 going to vote for President Trump,” Randy said.
“I鈥檓 going to vote for Vice President Biden,” Cyndra said.
And yes, it gets complicated, especially the COVID discussion.
“So, we鈥檙e trying not to talk about that as a couple, that鈥檚 one area that we tend to disagree,” Cyndra said.
Randy listened with his arms crossed.
But it鈥檚 couples like this who can show us the way.
So, if you鈥檙e single and lean left, maybe next time, swipe left for the lefty, and right for the righty. And if you鈥檙e single and lean right, swipe left for the righty, and right for the lefty.
It鈥檚 complicated, I know, but our future depends on it. And their children seem really cute.
