Since biology no longer exists in states run by progressives, Oregon lawmakers are advancing a movement called menstrual equity. It’s where they pretend boys can menstruate.

Democrat Governor Kate Brown signed the Menstrual Dignity Act and it’s now in effect. It mandates public elementary, middle, and high schools offer free tampons and menstrual pads in all bathrooms, including for the boys, by the end of next year.

But, in the name of equity, the virtue signal wastes money and denies the objective reality that only females can menstruate.

‘Right to menstrual dignity’

To ensure schools comply with the law, the Oregon Department of Education for educators.

In the toolkit, the state declares a new “right to menstrual dignity for transgender, intersex, nonbinary, and two-spirit students.” All the students they mention are biological females. But the state deems it controversial to accept biological truth. Instead, they embrace a culture that erases girls.

Educators can use the toolkit to find gender-affirming language recommendations to discuss “people who ovulate.”

They say ditch the word “girls” and say, “menstruating students.” Instead of saying, “girls may begin to menstruate,” educators should say, “someone with a uterus and ovaries may begin to menstruate.” These are all just wordy ways to say “girls.”

Conflicted advice

Rather than focus on where there’s a need for feminine hygiene products — which the state prefers you call “menstrual products” — Oregon lawmakers opted for money-wasting virtue signaling. And it’s caused conflicting demands.

Beyond free tampons, all schools must provide gender-affirming, medically accurate instructions on how to use the products. How exactly would that work? You’d have to tell transgender boys to use the tampons in a body party that only belongs to biological females, for a bodily function that only applies to biological females.

Obviously, you can’t be medically accurate if you’re pretending boys need tampons.

Taking a reason idea too far

It’s reasonable to ask for free feminine hygiene products for girls in school.聽There are sometimes emergencies on campus that require the products and there’s no reason to force a girl into a potentially embarrassing situation for a natural bodily process.

Unfortunately, Democrats couldn’t let a decent idea be undisturbed by their desperate need to signal their wokeness on gender identity issues.

Transgender students exist, to be sure. But putting female hygiene products in聽别惫别谤测听boy’s bathroom is both a waste of resources and inviting mockery, which doesn’t serve trans students.

To be clear, these tampons will be used by boys — just not for its intended purposes. Every 12-year-old boy who sees them will use them as tampon-swords and other kinds of weapons. And don’t be surprised if you see kids wandering around the hallways with two tampons coming out of their noses, laughing their way to biology class where they’ll hopefully learn that there are actual differences between men and women.
