A teacher was disciplined by her school district for a disturbing conversation she said she had with her chemistry students. She depicted it in a since-deleted Facebook post.

Casey Anderson is a science teacher at Anacortes High School. Parents were outraged after seeing a Facebook post detailing a conversation she had with students. In it, Anderson explained she made a joke about anal sex to the full classroom. Students and parents screenshot the post and shared it with the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH.

According to the district, after a number of complaints, Anderson was formally reprimanded. But after more allegations came to the attention of the superintendent, the teacher was placed on administrative leave.

A spokesperson confirmed the authenticity of the screenshot and named Anderson as the subject of the complaints.

The disturbing conversation

According to the screenshot, the teacher’s post from March 5 starts with an ironic title: “The most recent entry into, ‘Things Ms. Anderson Will Hear About From HR.'”

In the post, she features a photograph of a tissue dispenser in the character of a cat. The tissues are dispensed through the cat’s rear end.

“So, in my room (picture attached) I have a cat butt tissue dispenser,” Anderson wrote. “Currently, the dispenser is out of tissues.”

Anderson said a student noticed the tissue-less dispenser and asked her how she refills it. The teacher says she then addressed the class with an answer.

“I pause for a moment, then tell my class, ‘I turn down the lights, put on some soft music and use a LOT of vasoline,'” she wrote.

“I may have them retrieved [sic] a big container of petroleum jelly I had in my closet (for…reasons…) and placed it right by the cat,” she continued. “Class took a turn after that.”

District disciplines

The school district heard from a number of concerned parents. One father explains that his son brought it to his attention, claiming Anderson is Facebook friends with students.

“We conducted an investigation and formally reprimanded the teacher. This behavior is unacceptable and not tolerated by the district,” a district spokesperson confirmed to the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH.

“We received several complaints from parents. The formal reprimand becomes a part of the employee’s personnel file. We are working with the employee to ensure that professional standards are met in the future,” the spokesperson continued.

The spokesperson also explained, “this is the first reprimand that Ms. Anderson has received.”

In a to FOX News, superintendent Dr. Justin Irish said this did not warrant termination.

“Although this conduct is concerning, it does not merit such an extreme result as termination,” he said. “The district reached its decision in consultation with legal counsel, the teacher鈥檚 union and applicable state laws. The district expects all employees to adhere to professional standards and will continue to work with all staff to ensure that those standards are met.”

Anderson did not respond to a request for comment from the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH.

This isn’t the first questionable post

After the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH broke this story, several parents reached out to say this is not the first complaint they leveled against the teacher. The district spokesperson now says Anderson has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

“We received additional complaints regarding the teacher, so put her on administrative leave to allow more time to conduct an investigation,” the spokesperson explained.

It’s unclear what the new allegations entail. The district confirms they previously looked into two complaints but did not find them to be in violation of their policies.

One complaint also focused on a Facebook post. The screenshot of the post shows a sign that reads, “Making your kids queer since 2020.” The post text jokes: “Finally finished this project! It took a while, but I designed it and then made it! Letting it dry (after it got cleaned) before I try mounting it tomorrow! Gotta channel the snark somehow.”

The district spokesperson said via email, “my understanding is that it appeared on Ms. Anderson’s personal Facebook page, and never in her classroom, nor on any school district-related accounts.” The district does consider this to be inappropriate for the classroom.

Another complaint was that Anderson, who is reportedly transgender, was oversharing personal details about her gender identity.

“The school investigated this complaint, and it was found to be unfounded and likely the result of student hearsay,” the spokesperson said. “Several students were interviewed, and it was determined that she did not make the comments that were reported to the high school administration.”

The conversation was clearly inappropriate

Both posts are clearly inappropriate since students saw them. But it is also protected speech and should not result in termination.

It does, however, suggest a stunning lack of judgment. Given the teacher called it a “recent entry” into “Things Ms. Anderson Will Hear About From HR,” it’s reasonable to question whether or not there are more complaints we don’t know about. It’s equally reasonable to assume Anderson knew the content was inappropriate.

I suspect some of the complaints come from parents upset or uncomfortable that Anderson is apparently transgender. But the spokesperson says that Anderson confirmed the sex joke outlined in the post did take place as written.聽That’s clearly inappropriate for the classroom.

If a teacher in a MAGA hat made a similar joke, would that teacher stay in the classroom?
