Rantz: WA Democrat chairwoman embarrasses herself in transparent voting scam

Tina Podlodowski...

Tina Podlodowski, the chairwoman of the Washington State Democratic Party.

Washington Democrats chairwoman Tina聽Podlodowski is trying to convince Republicans to write in conservative lawmaker Brad Klippert for Secretary of State. This is arguably the most embarrassing political stunt we’ve seen in Washington state. It should be labeled a scam. And it betrays how desperate she’s feeling over the race.

Podlodowski has finally agreed to interviews on conservative radio shows. Normally, she keeps her distance, ignoring requests for comments or interviews. This time, however, she’s proactively reached out to discuss the upcoming election. But her agenda is pretty simple.

Through reverse psychology — performed so poorly it wouldn’t work on a toddler — she hopes to get Republican voters to write in Klippert’s name. Why? Because it helps Democrat Steve Hobbs.

What a truly sad attempt to scam voters

Julie Anderson, who is running as a non-affiliated candidate, is neck and neck with Hobbs. The fear is that she’s already pulled ahead of Hobbs, who has treated the campaign as hyperpartisan. But Podlodowski is pretending otherwise. She’s claiming that Klippert is surging.

“There’s a poll in place right now. And Brad Klippert is gaining a considerable amount of steam in this particular race. He is right behind Steve Hobbs if you’re looking at that,” Podlodowski claimed.

She was citing a poll from the left-wing Northwest Progressive Institute. But it doesn’t say what she claimed.

The that Klippert “could help tip contest to Steve Hobbs.” When voters considered Hobbs vs. Anderson, the slight edge went to Anderson.

Podlodowski’s pathetic ruse didn’t go so well. In my interview, I called out her scheme while on The Dori Monson Show, she appeared to have pretended to not hear Dori before hanging up. She apparently canceled her interview on a rival station after word got out that no one was falling for her subterfuge.

Julie Anderson is the smart vote

Most Republican voters, particularly on the west side of the state, have not heard of Klippert’s write-in campaign. Choosing between a Democrat and someone politically unaffiliated, a Republican will go for Anderson. And they should.

Write-ins of campaigns are very difficult to win. Klippert is a friend of the show and he’s been an effective lawmaker. But any vote for Klippert is effectively a vote for Hobbs.

I actually agree with Podlodowski for once: You shouldn’t write in Klippert. When I say it, however, it’s not meant as a sad attempt at reverse psychology. It’s because I want to deny the office going to a left-wing partisan. I’d rather Anderson, who seems genuinely open to both sides of political issues even if she is a moderate Democrat, than Hobbs.
