Vicious Twitter smear about Bellevue police goes viral: Jason Rantz

An anonymous Twitter account made unsubstantiated claims against Bellevue police officers. Thanks to anti-police activists and blue check mark accounts that willfully ignored the red flags, the claim went viral.
A Twitter user named @Heynongman was created in September 2022. His first tweet claimed Bellevue police randomly harassed a black family walking downtown. He said they wanted to “search the baby stroller” but the father said no.
“The officers escalated the situation by getting closer to the kids and the stroller which made the father rightfully defensive,” the man claimed.
He then offered photos that don’t show what he claimed happened. And he tagged left-wing accounts to amplify his smear. They obliged and the tweet started to spread.
ESPN correspondent Angela Rye that the incident was “Out. Of. Control!!!!” Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman yet still demanded the cops “better have a damned good explanation.”聽Former Seattle City Attorney candidate and anti-police ghoul Nicole Thomas Kennedy retweeted the claim without comment.
Then a chorus of Antifa sympathizing, ACAB-chanting, activists with personal pronouns in their bios started to tweet out their disgusting vitriol.
But Bellevue Police say it didn’t actually happen.
I witnessed Bellevue WA police harassing a black family walking downtown today. It appeared one cop wanted to search the baby stroller and the father wouldn鈥檛 let them. 5 officers tackled and pinned him and nearly tased him as his three young kids and partner looked on horrified.

Here’s what they say actually happened
The suspect, who is apparently known to both the police and loss prevention agents in the city, was accused of shoplifting and assault, according to Bellevue PD.
In a statement to the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH, a spokesperson said the suspect was seen by loss prevention agents shoplifting in a retail store with his family in tow. The spokesperson said loss prevention continued to watch the suspect and his family as they left the store.
“A loss prevention agent then observed the same suspect assault a FedEx driver by climbing onto the truck and punching the driver in the face. The victim suffered a swollen eye and bloody nose,” the statement said.
After officers located the suspect nearby, they say he “refused to cooperate and became physically aggressive.” They allege he resisted arrest before ultimately being arrested and booked into jail for investigation of assault.
All bystanders who recorded the incident refused to share their video, police said.

Red flags galore
Anti-police Twitter users eventually saw the statement by Bellevue PD. They reacted how you’d think.
They it was lie. Some the assault and shoplifting was and that he was only arrested because he is black. Others just reminded us how and they are. They’re almost all white who hope to be seen as a literal White Knight so that they can make their first black friend. It’s mostly just condescending virtue signaling.
I suppose it’s possible that the police lied and they decided to needlessly jump a black man with his family. That happens a lot in Bellevue — if you ask Seattle Antifa who don’t go to Bellevue because their parents won’t let loan them the car. Maybe it was a case of mistaken identity and the man or police escalated the situation. It would be helpful to see the video witnesses took but refused to turn over.
Or maybe the anonymous Twitter user who just created his account and mostly follows police-hating activists is the one who is lying.
