According to a from Seahawk Kam Chancellor on Sunday, it appears the strong safety is retiring from the gridiron.

“God has given me a sign that I just can’t ignore,” he tweeted. “I’ve played through all types of bruises and injuries at a high level. But this one, I just can’t ignore.”

Chancellor, 30, suffered a neck injury last November that was so serious, it forced him to miss the rest of the season.

“When the doctors told me what was going on in Nov [sic], my heart dropped to my stomach,” Chancellor wrote in his Twitter post.

Former Seahawks safety Jeron Johnson, who played alongside Chancellor for five seasons, told聽成人X站 Nights’ Gee Scott聽that his longtime friend and colleague was a true team player.

“Whatever I needed help with, since the first day I stepped into the Seahawks locker room, Kam was always there for me,” Johnson said.

While Chancellor helped create the famed “Legion of Boom,” the defense group that helped lead the Hawks to victory at Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014, in Johnson’s view, Chancellor changed the “Legion of Boom” to “love our brothers.”

“I feel like that was a big point that he got across, just to bring everybody together as one,” Johnson said.

Chancellor had an impressive career on the field, Johnson said, but were it not for the injury, he could have gone even further.

“Kam gave us a good eight years, but I feel like he would’ve had a lot more to show,” he said.

Still, Johnson expects “without a doubt” that Chancellor’s name will end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He plans to one day tell his grandchildren about how hard that Chancellor worked for his team.

“He’s a leader, off the field, on the field,” Johnson said. “He’s a selfless guy. He’s always there willing to help anyone out.”
