Bainbridge Island is located in Kitsap County. The Agate Pass Bridge (shown here) connects the island to Suquamish. (WSDOT)

My wife and I went to Bainbridge Island on Saturday. We hadn鈥檛 been in a while and it turned out to be a lovely day (sun!).

After walking around downtown for a bit, we decided to stop in at for a refreshment. It had a gorgeous setting with a great view of the harbor.
I got the bill and sent this picture to my co-host Jason Rantz.
The text, written in jest, read: 鈥淢y receipt is political.鈥 Notice the Living Wage Surcharge.
He posted it to Facebook, of course.
Here are some of the ludicrous reactions:
鈥淛ust another reason to stay out of Seattle. (Homeless, lack of law enforcement, sound transit, sexual addicted mayor, complacent city council, arena disputes, needles everywhere, ballooning real estate, and Starbucks).鈥
I wasn鈥檛 in Seattle. It says right there on the receipt. However, it鈥檚 a shame that鈥檚 what you think of our wonderful city.
鈥淭his is why I quit going to Seattle except rare occasions.鈥
Again, check the address. Not in Seattle. Curious what those rare occasions are though.
鈥淲ell, there’s their tip then .81 cents. Not gonna tip if I’m charged that.鈥
If your tip was going to be 81 cents — or as it is phrased here, ‘.81 cents’ — then don鈥檛 even bother tipping.
鈥淚 won’t spend a cent in Seattle. If I had my way I wouldn’t even drive thru there. Another Detroit in the making.鈥
Once again, geographically inaccurate. But beyond that, I don鈥檛 really see how we are like Detroit. We aren鈥檛 a city solely reliant on an antiquated industry. Nor are we struggling economically. Quite the opposite.
Bottom line: It was 81 cents, folks. Lighten up. Channel your outrage towards something more meaningful. At the very least, channel it to the right location.
