King County Metro is hosting yet another taxpayer-funded, politically charged event—this time promoting a radical activist group that pushes extremist transgender policies, including and allowing schools to connect minors with so-called “gender affirming care” without parental consent.

The Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EIB) is hosting a virtual Pride Month event on June 25th featuring the Lavender Rights Project. The group recently , Washington’s parental bill of rights.

“Together, we’ll explore what it means to move through the world as Black queer and trans people—and how race, gender identity, and mobility are deeply connected,” an email description of the event explained. “This conversation will uplift community voices, examine structural barriers, and spark collective action toward equitable transportation systems, all through the lens of Black liberation.”

King County Metro accused of creating a ‘toxic work environment’

Some King County Metro employees are upset with this event, arguing it’s pushing a political agenda on employees who may feel pressured into attending.

“This leadership has resulted in a toxic work environment where you either assimilate, stay silent, or speak up and fear retaliation,” one King County Metro employee told “The Jason Rantz Show” on KTTH.

He said these kinds of politically-motivated events are routinely promoted and endorsed by King County Metro.

“King County employees regularly receive official communications from the County, including senior leadership, via official County email, addressing national social and political issues with unambiguous language on how the organization feels about these topics, which ultimately implies the narrative they ‘expect’ you to embrace as an employee,” he explained. “The opinions expressed in these emails are openly one-sided and do not welcome or provide opposing viewpoints for perspective, nor do they share information on County policy regarding these types of discussions at work.”

Why are taxpayer funds going to a radical political group?

The Lavender Rights Project is a far-left black transgender advocacy organization that says it elevates “the power, autonomy, and leadership of the Black intersex & gender diverse community through intersectional legal and social services.”

Staff with the Lavender Rights Project that “Jails are not and can never be a safe space for trans people.” This belief is in direct conflict with King County Metro’s stated claim that they’re working to make buses safer for drivers and passengers. But given there are few to no arrests or jail time for criminal offenders who exploit a lack of policy enforcement on buses, perhaps the agency is more aligned with the radical group than the public realizes.

The Lavender Rights Project also we live in uncertain times where “oligarchy, misogyny, patriarchy, transphobia, anti-Blackness, and white supremacy seek to undermine our very existence.”

Taxpayer dollars directly funded the planning and promotion of this event. Additionally, the Lavender Rights Project is being paid $1,000 to participate in this even, according to King County Metro, plus the group says it from the King County Department of Community and Human Services.

King County Metro defends the selection

Despite the radical agenda of the Lavender Rights Project, King County Metro is defending the event.

“This optional educational opportunity represents neither an endorsement nor a political position. A presenter will describe the experience of Black queer and Black trans people for those who choose to attend,” a King County Metro spokesperson explained to “The Jason Rantz Show” on KTTH.

The spokesperson notes that the event is voluntary and is meant to align with both Pride Month and Juneteenth.
