3 stolen semi trucks are ‘unusual’ theft say Auburn police

Sep 23, 2014, 8:08 AM | Updated: 8:35 am

Three semis were stolen from a warehouse lot in Auburn Saturday and police said the theft is unusual.

Auburn Police Commander Mike Hirman said thieves usually take the trailers in order to steal the contents inside the trucks.

But he said, “We suspect that the tractors were going to be sold or taken some place and sold and stripped.”

Hirman also believes the suspects could be trying to steal other semi-trailers full of goods.

“But we don’t have any missing trailers at this time,” Hirman said.

From surveillance footage, police know all three tractors were stolen at the same time and were trailed by a white van.

The owner of the trucks found one of the tractors abandoned in Kent, according to Hirman. So far, there’s no sign of the other stolen semis.
