On Sunday July 1, toll rates went up for the first time on
the 520 bridge.
The rates increased by 2.5%, from $3.50 at peak hours to
$3.59 for cars with a Good To Go Pass. For pay-by-mail
customers, the rates will go up from $5 to $5.13.
This is the first of several annual rate increases for
tolls on the 520 bridge. The toll increases are planned
through 2015.
WSDOT officials say the bridge is on schedule to raise the
money to pay for a new bridge that would be built sometime
around 2017.
The Tacoma Narrows Bridge has also increased its toll
rate. The WSDOT will now charge Good To Go drivers $4, up
from $2.75, and pay-by-mail drivers $6, up from $5.50.
Tacoma Narrows also offers a discount to customers who pay
cash at the toll bridge.
Highway 167 HOT lanes will not change their fee rates.
