The man arrested for attacking a day care worker in Tacoma is now charged with multiple robberies, assaults and sex attacks dating back one year.
The Pierce County Prosecutor claims Andrake Morris, 18, is responsible for crimes ranging from attempted kidnapping to attempted rape, robbery, assault and illegal gun possession; 12 felonies in all.
Besides the daycare attack, two crimes happened outside drug stores and two inside apartments, all in the same general area.
In the Tender Hearts Daycare attack early Monday, at 84th and Pacific, police say the woman had texted her mother that she was concerned about the man she’d just let inside before opening. The man had said he wanted to enroll a child. The woman’s mother drove to the daycare, saw the beating and interrupted a rape.
Police say Morris left his DNA at more than one crime scene and was identified by the victim of the daycare attack. After his arrest, investigators say they linked Morris to four other attacks, including some where a gun was used to threaten victims.
At arraignment Thursday, Morris pleaded not guilty and a court commissioner increased his bail to $2 million.
