A man attempted to lure a 13-year-old girl in South Seattle Monday morning.
The girl was approached by a man driving a black SUV at Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Orcas Street in the Beacon Hill neighborhood, according to police. He asked her several times if she wanted a ride and offered to buy her breakfast.
The girl had to repeatedly refuse the man’s offers before he drove away.
According to the girl, the man is described as black in his 30s. He was wearing a black suit and black tie.
The incident comes during a time when some South Seattle communities are worried about student safety. An organization is pushing for the city and school district to provide all students who ask, a bus pass. That is because of safety and inequity reasons.
