What it’s like when Bill Gates is your Secret Santa

Dec 21, 2016, 2:32 PM

Every year, there’s a Secret Santa exchange organized on Reddit. It’s not a really a competition, but this year, one Reddit user won. She just won. How? Well, Bill Gates was her Secret Santa.

“… I get the box open and there’s just bubble wrap EVERYWHERE, but under the first layer I see a picture. .. and my jaw. Just. Drops,” , describing the moment when her Secret Santa gift arrived at her front door.

is an online forum, and users have organized a Secret Santa exchange over the past few years.

Aerrix thought it was a bit odd when her presents showed up at her doorstep, because she knew her Secret Santa shipped the box the day before it arrived. The box was considerably large, and yet, it still made it to her door within a day. But she understood when she saw the first item — a photo of Bill Gates, holding the Christmas card included in the box. Aerrix was “flabbergasted.”

The gift of Bill Gates

The box contained at least 12 wrapped gifts inside, each thoughtful present was clearly purchased with care and consideration, tailored for Aerrix. There were Zelda mittens just for her, as well as a matching set of four for her small terrier. Also, a Zelda blanket. There were Xbox items, a Nintendo, some Ravenclaw slippers (from Harry Potter) that Gates also has pair of.

The Secret Santa gifts were topped off by a framed photo (a Zelda frame) of Aerrix and her husband … and Bill Gates was photoshopped into it.

It was clear that Bill Gates took the time to understand who Aerrix was and carried out a rather thoughtful presentation.

Aerrix posted photos of the presents on Reddit with this comment:

Merry Christmas to all yall out there, and to Mr. Gates, who has the biggest heart and REALLY KNOWS HOW TO TREAT A GIRL TO SOME VIDEO GAMES (and video game paraphernalia)! I’m just blown away by his generosity, which went even further than all these gifts because he submitted a donation to code.org in my name to give more students the chance to learn computer science, which is AWESOME because it’s something near and dear to my heart as my husband is a programmer and my brother has a degree in computer science! Thank you SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO much Mr. Gates! I’ll never EVAR forget this Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 馃榾 馃榾 馃榾
