All 12 members of Washington鈥檚 Congressional Delegation signed onto a letter, urging President Trump to reconsider a disaster declaration for November鈥檚 “bomb cyclone.”
The bipartisan move comes after the administration denied the state鈥檚 initial request. The November 2024 storm delivered $34 million in damages across six counties and resulted in two deaths due to falling trees.
Individuals and businesses were able to get relief through the Small Business Administration, but money for roads and other infrastructure has been denied.
In January, the delegation urged former President Biden to grant the request for a Major Disaster Declaration. The Federal Emergency Management Agency denied the request last month. from FEMA never explained why.
