Bremerton man accused of dangling baby out second-story window

Sep 8, 2014, 3:14 PM | Updated: 3:19 pm

A Bremerton man is behind bars after he allegedly held his own baby out of a broken, second story apartment window and attacked police in a meth-fueled rampage.

Police Chief Steve Strachan says the 911 call early Sunday was vague and officers had no idea what they were getting into until they saw the baby being dangled out the window.

Strachan says officers were quick to jump into action, with one officer standing below to catch the baby and talk the man down, while two others kicked down the barricaded door.

The officers were able to pry the baby away from the 43-year-old man who Strachan says was screaming and sweating profusely. According to Strachan, the man then charged an officer and was Tased.

“They used a Taser, finally got him subdued, put him in handcuffs and got everything settled down. But obviously a very emotional scene and one that required a lot of quick thinking.”

Strachan says he’s proud of how officers responded to the incident. “I think they saved a life.”
