Des Moines resident shot, pistol whipped by robbers

Oct 30, 2012, 7:12 AM | Updated: 8:06 am

Police are asking for the public’s help to track down two men that broke into a Des Moines home, shooting and pistol whipping the homeowner late Monday night.

The robbers reportedly forced their way into the home around 11 p.m. and demanded money from a male and female resident.

“The male occupant got into a scuffle with one of the armed males and was shot in the abdomen area as well as pistol whipped,” says Des Moines Police Sgt. Bob Bohl.

Police say the victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and is expected to survive. The woman in the house was not hurt.

Police are searching for the two robbers who fled. They only have a description for one of the suspects. He is described as a white male in his late 20s with a shaved head and an unshaven face with red hair.

Bohl says it’s too early in the investigation to know if this was a targeted residence or just a random act of violence.
