Washington State Sen. Doug Ericksen says he is looking forward to promises President-elect Donald Trump made during his campaign coming to fruition.
With a Republican-controlled Senate and House effectively giving the U.S. a one-party rule, there is little in the way of Trump making good on his goals.
“Having a Republican Senate and Republican House is going to make it very good,” Ericksen told Seattle’s Morning News. “Repealing Obamacare, that鈥檚 gonna happen first thing. He鈥檚 going to go through and void all of President Obama鈥檚 illegal executive orders 鈥 that will happen day one. All of that will happen and I鈥檓 looking forward to it.”

Obamacare, or the Affordable Care Act, was a legacy President Barack Obama hoped to leave behind him. The ACA made it possible for that was previously out of reach either because of affordability or pre-existing conditions.
Speaking of promises, Trump has also said he will get a special investigator to look into his former opponent Hillary Clinton’s email controversy — even going as far as to say she would be in jail if he became president.
鈥淲e鈥檒l see what happens with that,” Ericksen said. “We鈥檒l see what Mrs. Clinton decides to do moving forward and we鈥檒l see if Congress will take up that issue. Or if she鈥檒l just move quietly into the background.”
鈥淎s more evidence comes out, we鈥檒l see what that evidence is as more things come forward as the FBI continues to work on it,” he continued. “But for me personally, that鈥檚 not my priority going forward. My priority is to create jobs and bring the country together and as Mr. Trump says, 鈥楳ake America great again.鈥欌
While Ericksen previously said of Trump that no candidate is perfect as he campaigned, he believes Trump is the candidate that can make Republican goals a reality. And he did it by going big. Though Ericksen believes that Trump won’t be able to do everything he promised.
鈥淢r. Trump expanded the Republican Party,” Ericksen said. “You have new people coming to the party and it makes a difference. We鈥檒l have issues going forward. We鈥檒l work our way through it. It will be the Republican Party again focused on working people and American values.”
鈥淗e鈥檚 the President of the United States,” he said. “He鈥檚 not a dictator. He鈥檚 not a king. He will work with Congress. Everybody talks about things in the election that they would like to get done, we can鈥檛 do everything people talk about in the election. But he will be focused and I think he has a better chance of delivering than anybody else.”
