Four months after a Bothell woman was found dead in her home, police have arrested her estranged husband for murder.
Detectives went to the same home Thurs. where Susann Smith was found dead in February after failing to show up for work. Alan Smith answered the door.
“He was subsequently taken into custody and he’s being booked into the Snohomish County Jail on murder one,” said Police Sergeant Ken Seuberlich.
No charges have been filed and so far, there is no court appearance scheduled for Smith, 37.
Police won’t say if new evidence prompted detectives to arrest Smith now.
“Just more or less the facts of the case, the investigation as it stands right now, detectives felt comfortable going up there and arresting him,” said Seuberlich.
Alan Smith was arrested earlier this month after neighbors called 911 and responding police officers caught him having sex with his girlfriend in the front yard of the same house. Then, a few days later, Smith was arrested again for failing to turn over his passport.
Police won’t discuss specific evidence about the murder, which happened during a custody fight. But court documents indicate detectives found blood evidence in Alan Smith’s car and on his backpack.
