A fire that destroyed at least six businesses in a White Center strip mall may have been set intentionally.
King County Sergeant Tim Meyer says that’s based on new evidence that came to light Thursday.
“They have now reclassified this as an arson case,” Meyer said. “So it’s very much an open and active investigation that’s being investigated by our detectives. They’re going to continue their good work to identify the suspects and motive in this incident.”
Sergeant Meyer is unable to discuss new evidence or which business may have been the arsonists’ target.
He added that arsonists are unpredictable, so first responders are on high alert in the south part of the county.

The fire has at least six businesses on Roxbury Southwest closed and cleaning up. One has already said it is not planning on reopening.
