A Marysville woman had to defend against a firebomb and a boxcutter attack early Friday morning.
The woman told police a man she recognized came running up to her house in the about 3:45 a.m. He threw a bottle into an open window, which exploded and ignited a piece of furniture. The woman put out the fire before it did significant damage.
The man, who occasionally employs her boyfriend, then went to the front of the house.
“He started slashing at her with a boxcutter and hitting her in the face, but then realized that the blade was not opened,” said police commander Robb Lamoureux. “He then opened the blade and sliced at her stomach area, causing a superficial cut.”
Next, police say the man started throwing firewood and other items through a front window. The woman’s boyfriend, who was walking home from a neighbor’s house, then confronted the attacker, who “jumped in his truck and tried to run over the male victim before taking off,” said Lamoureux.
Police later learned that the man had left a threatening phone message, saying he was looking for the boyfriend and that it wouldn’t be pretty when he found him.
Police are now looking for the man who drove off.
