Jan 30, 2014, 11:59 AM | Updated: 1:53 pm

Clark County, Wash. Sheriff’s deputies arrested a former Washington State Patrol trooper Wednesday night on allegations of sex crimes against a relative.

The 51-year-old was arrested at a Portland hotel with the aid of a SWAT team.

“He’s trained and tactically, we were concerned for his safety and the safety of others,” said Sheriff’s Sergeant Kevin Allais. He said the suspect was not armed.

The sheriff said the man recently retired as a lieutenant colonel in the Army National Guard and resigned last month as a lieutenant in the State Patrol.

Allais would not speak to the specific nature of the crimes.

“There is one count of rape in the second degree, two counts of incest in the first degree, and one count of incest in the second degree,” he said. The allegations were investigated following a referral from Adult Protective Service, a state agency.

The suspect is due in court in Vancouver Friday to enter pleas. No bail amount has been set.
