Gary Payton says he ‘wants to get in on’ a Seattle basketball team

May 17, 2016, 11:56 AM

Former Seattle SuperSonics point guard Gary Payton wants to be more than just an advocate for a Seattle arena.

The team’s all-time leading scorer that he wants to be an owner of an NBA team in Seattle.

“Yes, I do,” he said. “I do always. I always want to get in on that.”

Payton told TMZ that “Seattle deserves” a team, noting that is where his NBA career began and “where I became a Hall of Famer.”

Unfortunately for Payton, a decision by the Seattle City Council made an already difficult task even more so, after it voted against vacating a street necessary to building a new arena.
