GeekWire’s Todd Bishop and John Cook have seen many sports games enabled for smartphones, but they both declare a cut above the rest. The app is a virtual upgrade of the children’s game, where users play a kicker and flick footballs up through a goal post to score points.
The application, which sells for 99 cents, is compatible with Android, iPad, and iPhone operating systems.
“The in-app purchasing pushes are just aggressive, completely aggressive. They try and get you to buy Facebook credits to get these power-ups and things,” says Todd.
If you can ignore the sales pitches, the game has great graphics and poses an ongoing challenge for players. The more field goals you make, the farther back on the field the game moves you for each kick.
The game allows you to unlock new functions and offers an entertaining digital take on the classic paper football game.
