Broken glass came raining down from a high rise hotel on to a Seattle street early Friday morning.

Crews quickly put plywood over the broken window on the 29th floor of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, at 6th and Seneca.

Thankfully, nobody in the hotel or on the street was hurt when tiny pieces of safety glass showered down from the hotel window at about 5:30 a.m. The pellets of glass covered part of Seneca and the sidewalk outside the hotel.

Part of Seneca Street was blocked for a time during rush hour as the glass was swept up.

Crowne Plaza Seattle hotel manager Christy Smith said the room was occupied at the time, but she can’t say what caused the glass to shatter.
