GoFundMe for mother of slain Wenatchee girls surpasses $1M, 2nd-largest in WA history

A for Whitney Decker, the mother of three young girls鈥擯aityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5鈥� who were found dead near the Rock Island Campground in Leavenworth, has surpassed $1 million from more than 21,000 donors.
The girls’ father, Travis Decker, is accused of murdering them and is currently facing six felony charges, three counts of first-degree aggravated murder and three counts of first-degree kidnapping.
The donations to the GoFundMe have come from all over the world. Run and operated by Amy Edwards, the GoFundMe is intended to help with expenses and legal costs. Edwards knew Whitney Decker for years, teaching Whitney鈥檚 girls dance over the past few years.
“Thank you for continuing to hold Whitney close in your hearts,” Edwards wrote on the GoFundMe page. “Your support is not only helping her through this tragedy, it鈥檚 also carrying forward the love and spirit her daughters brought into the world.”
Donated funds will go directly to Whitney to help cover final expenses, support time off from work, and give her space to heal without financial pressure, the GoFundMe read.

This is the second GoFundMe campaign in the state of Washington to reach $1 million in donations, GoFundMe representatives told . In GoFundMe’s 15-year history, the organization revealed that Washington is the ninth-most generous state in the country on the platform.
According to GoFundMe, Washington has contributed more than $27 million through GoFundMe across 6.4 million donations.
