Washington minimum wage Initiative 1433 takes lead

It appears that Washington’s minimum wage hike will likely pass after it kept 59 percent approval going into Wednesday night, and ballots continued to be counted.

Initiative 1433 – promoted by the Raise Up Washington campaign – would increase the Washington state minimum wage in stages to $13.50 by 2020.
The current Washington minimum wage is $9.47.
Supporters of the wage hike were able to raise $4.2 million for the initiative effort, according to Ballotpedia. Venture capitalist Nick Hanauer contributed $1 million in favor of the minimum wage hike. Those opposed to Initiative 1433 raised $82,000.
