3-alarm fire in Federal Way displaces 20

A three-alarm fire destroyed parts of an apartment building, including the roof, on Wednesday, July 27.
An investigation into how the fire started is set to begin today.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 4:50 p.m., where flames and smoke shot into the air, and the roof collapsed of Terra Apartment Homes in the 35200 block of 21st Avenue Southwest in Federal Way.

As crews evacuated the building, residents were provided with King County Metro buses with AC to shelter from the 90+ degree heat. Crews said that the “high temperatures played a role” in making the fire more difficult to get under control.
鈥淚 was coming to leave with my family and I heard a lot of people screaming that the building was on fire, so, I just ran over and just helped out where I could. I helped someone off a balcony,鈥 said Lamour in an interview with 成人X站 7, a resident of the apartment complex.

A firefighter was taken to the hospital for a heat-related injury. Another person was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
No other injuries were reported. However, a firefighter did give a dog oxygen at the scene.
An estimated 12-18 apartments were damaged in the fire, and the residents have been displaced.
There is no known cause at this time, as investigators start evaluating the fire.
