A two-alarm fire early Wednesday has done extensive damage to a Mountlake Terrace church.
Flames were about 20 feet high when Snohomish County firefighters arrived at the Mount Zion Lutheran Church at about 3:00 a.m.
“We had one minor injury to a firefighter, some ceiling material fell on his head,” said Fire District 1 spokesman Jerry Sheehan.
The firefighter was transported to the hospital as a precaution, but Sheehan said he is fine.
Fire investigators had found evidence outside the that indicated the fire was intentionally set.
“Initially there was a suspicion that it could be arson, that has not proven to be true,” explained Sheehan. “All we really know for now is that the fire started on the outside of the building and moved up the wall to the attic.”
Crews knocked down the blaze by about 4:30 a.m. No other injuries were reported.
