It’s not what you say, but how you dress for Marshawn Lynch

Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch apparently gave in to the NFL’s policy on talking to the media, after a hearing for a $75,000 fine was cancelled.

A settlement was reached for the fine imposed on Lynch for not speaking to the media after the NFC Championship in January, the NFL Network reports.

reports that Lynch will make himself available to reporters, otherwise he pays the fine.

The latest settlement is part of Lynch’s refusal to speak to the media, which has cost him thousands during his time with the Seahawks.

But maybe it’s not so much Lynch, as it is the media. Maybe reporters are just going about talking to the 29-year-old the wrong way. For instance, what happens when a reporter wears Lynch’s Beast Mode apparel? 710 ESPN Seattle’s Danny O’Neil did just that.

“I just wore his shirt [“I’m just here so I won’t get fined”] and he came by and offered a comment on his attire,” Danny explained.

And what, pray tell, did he say?

“‘That’s a fine looking shirt young man,'” Danny repeated.

Anyone who has spoken with Lynch knows he’s not an unfriendly person. He simply doesn’t like to be interviewed, Danny said.

“I’ve been around jerk athletes that are difficult to deal with,” Danny continued. “I don’t want to name any names, because I don’t want to hurt Chris Clemons’ feelings.”

Lynch has spoken to Danny several times over the past few years. The brief conversations have ranged from areas they grew up in to basketball. They haven’t been in-depth discussions, but he believes he has enough material to write at least one column.

“He just doesn’t want to be interviewed and doesn’t want to be told what to do if he doesn’t think he should have to do it,” Danny said.

At least Lynch is more entertaining than Russell Wilson, who won’t stop talking about his investments.
