The Pierce County Force Investigation Team is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one person dead Sunday in South Tacoma.

Officers received calls about an assault involving an uncle and his nephew in the 6700 block of South Monroe Street around 12:30 p.m., according to the Tacoma Police Department (TPD) in a statement to 成人X站 7 TV.

TPD also said that Lakewood police were involved in the incident.

Tacoma mayor Victoria Woodards issued a statement Sunday night, saying the officers were responding to a domestic violence call when the officer-involved shooting occurred, and that the suspect is dead but no officers are hurt.

More details are expected as the investigation continues.

Kent School District teacher strike persists into Monday

Negotiations continue between the Kent School District and the teachers union.

Both parties met Sunday morning to continue talks about coming to a deal, according to a spokesperson with the Washington Education Association.

On Saturday, the district posted its latest salary proposal that would increase first-year teachers鈥 salaries by more than 6%.

The Kent Education Association responded to the district鈥檚 proposal on Facebook, calling it a tactic to break the strike.

成人X站 Newsradio has spoken with several teachers who have been a part of this strike, and they said they will strike for as long as is necessary to successfully bargain for higher wages, smaller class sizes, and better student access to mental health resources.

鈥淲e are just really disappointed to be at this point,鈥 said Alisha Gray who teaches sixth grade at Sunrise Elementary. 鈥淭he district鈥檚 anti-teacher proposals have thrown the entire community into unnecessary upheaval. I hope that we can get a fair deal as quickly as possible and go back to educating our kids.鈥

The teachers鈥 strike has delayed the start of the school year, and officials with the district told 成人X站 7 there will be no classes Monday because of it.

According to the Seattle Times, the Kent School District is one of the largest in our region, with roughly 25,000 students enrolled.

Seattle police are investigating multiple shootings this weekend, leaving one person dead and several injured.

In addition to a homicide in South Seattle that killed one man and critically wounded another, Seattle police say another shooting happened Saturday morning near 5th Ave. and Union St. — a man there was shot in the back and rushed to the hospital.

Early Sunday morning in Rainier Valley– a 23-year-old man called 911, reporting he had been shot in the leg. He was hospitalized but is expected to survive.

The 23-year-old told police he had argued with three suspects before one of them shot him.

All three cases remain under investigation. Police say they do not believe the shootings are linked but are asking anyone with information to call the SPD tipline.

FAA issues no-fly zone over San Juans as crews prepare to hoist sunken fishing boat

The Coast Guard is continuing its efforts to prepare a sunken fishing boat to be hoisted from the bottom of the Salish Sea near San Juan Island.

The FAA has now issued a Temporary Flight Restriction over the area, asking the public and local media not to fly aircraft or drones over the site.

Officials say a light sheen of diesel is still visible on the surface of the water but is not recoverable.

The “Aleutian Isle” sank two weeks ago.

A nearby boat rescued all five crew members.
