Housing advocates and mobile homeowners packed a Puyallup City Council meeting Tuesday to protest a mass eviction.

Those living at Meridian Estates mobile home park have been told they need to leave by October to make way for the development of apartments.

Many own their mobile homes, but not the land. They have been offered as much as $10,000 in moving assistance.

鈥淚’m here to encourage you to do the right thing and compensate these people for their properties at fair market value,鈥 a housing advocate told the Puyallup Council Tuesday.

According to The Tacoma News Tribune, no decision was made at Tuesday鈥檚 meeting.

Macy鈥檚 trims expectations of consumer spending for remainder of 2022

Macy’s released second-quarter results Tuesday and offered a glimpse into what shoppers are willing to spend money on.

With inflation running high, families are buying only what is necessary. But what’s “necessary” has changed: people are heading back to the office, going out more, and traveling, for example.

What’s in? Macy’s says shoppers are buying work clothes, cosmetics, and luggage.

What’s out? Casual clothes, home furniture, and appliances.

Macy’s 鈥 like other retailers 鈥 are stuck with a glut of products they can’t move. That means you may see some steep discounts as the holiday season approaches as retailers try to predict what Americans with tighter budgets will be willing to spend their money on next.

Despite a solid second-quarter report, Macy’s is trimming expectations for the remainder of the year.
