Seattle police: Suspect in Metro bus driver stabbing in custody

Seattle police arrested a suspect after a King County Metro bus driver was stabbed in the Rainier Beach neighborhood Sunday night.

Police say witnesses identified the suspect as the man who stabbed the bus driver five times.

The bus on the 7 route was stopped at a layover area on Rainier Avenue when the stabbing occurred. Witnesses said there was an “altercation” between the driver and a passenger.

The 54-year-old driver was stabbed in the upper body. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and will be reviewing footage from cameras on the bus.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail
