Calling it close to a “blank check,” the Seattle Municipal League is recommending a ‘no’ vote on the Seattle bus funding measure.
In its , the Muni League says Proposition One was conceived as an emergency funding measure in the face of sweeping service reductions. It seeks an annual license fee and a sales tax increase.
But now, Metro’s improving finances have allowed for the suspension of proposed service cuts, originally scheduled to take effect in early 2015. So, the Muni League says a ‘yes’ vote might signal voters’ willingness to support ongoing supplemental bus funding.
The Muni League also recommends a ‘no’ vote on the monorail planning measure, Citizen Petition Number One.
