Northwest Folklife Festival is an annual community celebration of music, art, and heritage in the Pacific Northwest. Since 1972, the festival has “brought together upwards of 250,000 community members” to Seattle Center over Memorial Day weekend. This year, the 49th annual festival, will look a little different.

AAA won’t forecast Memorial Day travel for first time in 20 years

“From Home to Home: Northwest Folklife Festival” will be a held May 23-25. Presented by Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in partnership with Seattle Center, Home to Home is bringing artists, creatives, sponsors, and merchants together virtually.

The complete schedule for live streaming is posted .

There will be livestreams of music and dance performances by artists from the Pacific Northwest, interactive dance workshops, on-demand videos of music and dancing, prerecorded music and dances for families to move together, and downloadable, interactive content for the whole family.

The cultural focus of the festival will be honored through video interviews in found in “Living Legacies.” There is also an artist directory that highlights all those scheduled to perform at the 2020 festival.

Local jewelry, decor, apparel, food, and craft merchants can be found in the “Virtual Marketplace,” with direct links to their online shops.

From the archives: Northwest Folklife offers far more than most festivals

While the Northwest Folklife Festival acknowledges that this Memorial Day weekend “will just not feel the same,” organizers hope the community joins in the celebration virtually this year. Learn more about the Home to Home festival and other virtual activities at Seattle Center .
