An officer-involved shooting broke out late Wednesday night in Bremerton, sending one person to the hospital. No members of law enforcement were injured in the incident.

Deputies with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) were investigating a report of a prowler at approximately 11:30 p.m. An employee with a mobile surveillance company initially reported it, believing he saw someone prowling in the parking lot of the Fred Meyer store in the 5000 block of State Route 303 in unincorporated Bremerton.

According to KCSO Spokesperson Kevin McCarty, five deputies and two state troopers arrived at the scene.

“At some point, there was contact with the suspect, and shots were fired, and the suspect was injured,” McCarty told ³ÉÈËXÕ¾ Newsradio.

Reasons for the shooting remain unknown

It is unknown whether a deputy or a trooper fired their weapon, as of this reporting.

“As far as what led up to gunshots, I don’t have that information at this point,” McCarty said. “It’s not clear. That part of the investigation is to determine what happened.”

The suspect was taken to Tacoma General, and is currently in stable condition.

According to ³ÉÈËXÕ¾ Newsradio, deputies found several guns inside the suspect’s vehicle.
